Name: Iren Suto
Age: 34
Profession: Barkeeper/Interdimensional traveler
Pronouns: She/her
Canon: Original Character
Backstory: Iren grew up as the daughter of a wealthy, high class family, used to moving among the highest circles of society. Her steadfast lack of interest in romance in general, and in getting married specifically, marked her as merely an eccentric at first. But when her mother died and her father blew through the family fortune in a desperate attempt to hold his depression at bay with wild parties and unwise investments, the survivors of the Suto family found a variety of creditors circling them like hungry sharks. Suddenly, Iren was not an eccentric daughter, she was a valuable asset.
Lord Suto decided the only way out was for his sole daughter to marry into wealth and arranged a match for her. Iren found the idea of marriage supremely disturbing for reasons she couldn't exactly articulate at the time, but her father wasn't hearing it, insisting that it was her "duty" to see that the family name wasn't dragged through the mud.
Iren ran away. She was used to wealth and comfort, so she couldn't get far, however. So she fled to the ruins of the temples of the gods. In this modern era no one believed in the gods, preferring modern science and sorcery. But Iren knew that she couldn't stay away from home for long as she was now, and that when she got back she'd be forced to go through with the marriage with...some guy she didn't know. The idea felt suffocating. In her desperate hour, Iren turned to the gods for help, and she just HAPPENED to do it right on top of the site that had once been the very first temple to Morrah, god of travelers and hospitality.
Morrah stirred in his ancient slumber and found a young sorceress pleading for help IN HIS HOME. He was weak from centuries of neglect, but it would have been against everything he was to ignore her. So Morrah offered a pact with her. He would carry her away to a place she could never be found again, and in exchange she would become his first priestess in a thousand years. Morrah took the whole temple, Iren included, and dragged it to another world with the last of his power.
In this new world where no one knew her or what she had fled, Iren found a new home. There wasn't any magic in this world, but Iren's had apparently come with her, so she found little difficulty building a place for herself. She built up the ruins of the ancient temple into a home, of sorts, that would satisfy both herself and Morrah. It was a cafe/bar/restaurant that she named the Laughing Toadstool. She lived in an attic apartment, while Morrah lived in a sealed basement.
But Morrah was the god of travelers as much as he was the god of hospitality. He could not bear to stay in one place for too long. He was too weak in the physical world to walk around on his own, so he used his metaphysical power to regularly move his temple to new worlds, dragging Iren along with him.
Iren, for her part, feels no need to return home. She actually enjoys her new role as a tourist of the multiverse, offering food and drink to anyone who needs it before moving on.
TL;DR: Heiress makes a deal with a dying god to get out of an arranged marriage by becoming a barkeeper for a tavern that travels the multiverse

Powers
- Soulfusing: Iren can put a little bit of her own power into an object, and so make that object function as if it were part of herself, animating it into a form that she can move about as easily as she could her own body. She has done so to every door, window, plank of wood, curtain, and light fixture in the Laughing Toadstool, which makes her a formidable foe while she is on the premises.
- Blessing of Morah: The god of Hospitality and Travelers makes it so Iren's business seems more appealing to anyone passing by than it might normally look, making it so she rarely has to worry about running out of money as long as she's actually trying to run things fairly.
- Planeshifting: Iren's Inn, the Laughing Toadstool, can transport itself to other dimensions, or even move around within the same dimension. She also has a scrying orb that lets her scout out her arrival location so she can make sure she's not about to transport her livelihood into an active volcano or a rioting mob. This is a significant expenditure of power, so she usually prefers to wait at least a month between each shift.
First Impressions
- Appearance: 5'4", 155lbs. Curvy build. Iren presents in a very femme fashion with long skirts or dresses and frequently is wearing an apron on account of working in food services. She keeps her hair relatively short and has pierced ears.
- Vibes: Iren is friendly and nonthreatening, most of the time, but also tends to play things close to the vest. She will usually try to deflect questions about herself if she can do so politely. She has a bad habit of folding under pressure, and is easy to bully. A self described coward.
- Interests: New experiences, taking care of people, friendship and casual relationships, food and drink, travel, hospitality.
- Sensitive topics: Marriage, violence, pregnancy, childbirth, aristocratic ideals, betrayal
Permissions
- Shipping: Iren is not interested in romantic relationships, and will quickly grow irritated or upset with people who press their advances too hard. Aromantic
- Smut: Iren is interested in more casual friends-with-benefits relationships. She will have sex with her friends, or sometimes even have one night stands. Bisexual.
- Violence: Iren hates violence and will do anything she can to avoid it. She will feel slightly more willing to stand up for herself while in her tavern because she has the home field advantage, but even then will focus on removing violent people from the premises and/or escaping over seeking victory.
- Fourth Wall: Please don't
- OOC sensitive topics: I don't PERSONALLY have any real triggers, but if you're mentioning something particularly graphic or offensive (rape, child abuse, etc), maybe put a warning into the subject header for the sake of others reading our thread.
- Anything else: I think you're pretty cool
